The 5 Minute Face for $40ish.

Ladies, we all have that moment when we are sitting at our bathroom counter or vanity and the significant other is yelling that we have "5 minutes before we are left". I has happened to me, and I am sure it has happened to you. Or that moment where you sit down to leisurely do your face and you look down at your cell phone and you suddenly curse spending 30 minutes on your hair because now you only have 5 to do your make up! Never fear! I have a 5 minute face that only involves a handfull of products that will get you out the door and looking good! Also, bonus, it is under $40 worth of product! Woot Woot! Lets get started!

From left: Elf blush and bronzer duo, Maybelline Color Tatto in Bad to the Bronze, Maybelline FitMe Concealer, Elf Eyelid Primer, NYX Lip Gloss in Beige, Rimmel Clean Finish Foundation, Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Face Primer, Wet N Wild Mega Protein Mascara, and Elf Eyebrow Kit. Not Pictured (OOOPS!) Rimmel Stay Matte Powder.

Here is what I used! And you can vary this depending on your coloring, color preferences, and all that jazz! Each step takes about a minute to complete!

First step: Quickly rub your primer all over your face. Get a good coverage. Then, take your eye lid primer (since I used a cream shadow this step kept it from creasing during the day) and pop it on your lid. This step cost: $11

Second step: With your tool of choice (I use a buffing brush), buff a thin layer of foundation all on your face and down your neck. Take your concealer, if you need it, and pop it on any problem spots, and under your eyes for a nice little glow! Pat it into your skin with your ring finger, or if you have a brush, use that! This step cost: $12

Third step: Brows! Now, I dye my hair brown so this is a MUST step for me. But some women have the luxury to just skip this step (I hate you all!). But, if your brows have any sparse areas or not shaped the way you like, I promise you that filling in your brows is a life changer to your makeup routine! I cannot believe I went so long without doing it. Once your brows are done, take the cream shadow, plop your finger into the pan, and just swipe in on your lower lid. Its that easy. Since its a cream shadow it stays all day and you dont have to worry about it. I took a little buffing brush to make it a little smokier, but I could have just left it as is and been happy. I even take a little of it on a crush and use it as eyeliner. Killing two birds with one cream eyeshadow! This step cost: $9

Fourth step: Take your mascara, any will do, and comb it through those lashes! Taking the time to curl them will make a huge difference, but if your rushing, its not world ending if you forget! I use a protein mascara on the weekends when I am not going anywhere super special so I can give my lashes a little TLC. Its a cheap tube, don't know if it actually works, but I like it for a natural look. Not to mention the wand is super easy to work with so it's fast! This step cost: $2

Fifth step: Take your powder, I use a Stay Matte powder because my skin gets a little oily during the day, and brush it all over your face and down the neck. Then take it, pop some on your finger, and pat it on your lid where you put the cream shadow. It locks it in all day, and if you get a transparant powder it doesn't change the color at all. Take your blusher and bronzer, put the blush on the apples of your cheeks to give you a glowy look. And take your bronzer, suck in your cheeks, and put it in the hallows of your cheeks. If you have a rounder face like I do, this contouring slims it up! But, if your have a smaller, skinnier face, you can use the bronzer however you like! Take your lip gloss, pop it on and your ready to go!!! This step cost: $10

And the total is ::drumroll:: $44.
Okay so I went a little over $40 but you can cut out anything in this list! OOPS!

And there you have it! Your out the door in pretty close to 5 minutes and there is no fuss! I wore this look to my birthday dinner at my parents house and it stayed all day! I will say that there are less expensive items out there, this is just what I had on hand.

I hope this helped you out on your rushed days, or just when you feel like doing a more relaxed look! Thanks for reading and stay beautiful!

First Impression: Covergirl's Flamed Out

Today we popped into Wal-Mart to get some “groceries”. I use quotations because this almost always results in very little grocery buying and a lot of silly stuff buying, especially make up! So I walked over to the make up aisle just to see if there was anything new. I happened to see that Covergirl had a new mascara called Flamed Out. I figured why not pick it up and do a first impressions post on here! So, here are my first impressions of the Flamed Out mascara!

I was immediately drawn to the packaging. It was a super bright orange with hot pink little “flames” on it. Super cute! Especially considering Covergirl doesn’t have the jazziest of packaging for their mascaras. So, for $5 and some change I figured why not. So already I really liked the packaging and the price. So far so good!

Then I got it home and immediately tore open the packaging. One thing I noticed right away is how wide the mouth of the bottle is. Usually they taper inward so that you cant see the contents inside the bottle. This one you can see straight into it. The first thing I said to Dillon “Well, this is going to dry out quickly”. Obviously it will be some time before I can say that with absolute certainty, but with the contents right there exposed to the open air with no small closing, I feel its going to happen. Another issue with the open mouth bottle is that the brush comes out super coated with product. Like way too much! I had to scrape it off on the sides just to get a handle on the brush. I don’t like doing that. Wastes product and I feel is unsanitary. So, I am already getting a little disappointed with this product.

Then I put it on. And I got disappointed all over again. It was thick and clumpy to begin with. I worked at it go smooth it out, put a second coat on it and was not overly impressed. It just looked like my lashes, but way fatter. And I like length; don’t we all when it comes to mascara!? Didn’t add a lot of length at all. And it felt so heavy on my lashes. I will say this though; it means it when it says waterproof. I didn’t jump in a pool or anything, but I did have to fight with it on removal. The brush, when I finally got the entire extra product off, was really nice. The shame was good. I wish it were tapered a little at the end to get those tiny baby lashes in the corners of my eye.

So maybe this mascara, with its bright orange and hot pink, belongs out on the beach or by the pool. I might keep using during the summer on those days when I don’t want to put on a full face of makeup but I don’t want to look like I have no lashes. The waterproof would be good for those days I think.

Overall: Cute packaging, poor bottle structure, okay brush, pretty good staying power, unimpressive once applied. D+

Hope you enjoyed my first, first impression!

Simple skin care for two.

If there is a way to save money, we will do it. Simple as that. So, when it comes to things that might take a little extra money, we try and share. We were both in the market for a face wash system recently. Now, this can get stupid expensive if your not careful. And that stuff works, but we wanted something a little more in our price range.

So, one day we were walking around the bigger mall that is a little further away from where we live. We were chatting about how we needed a face wash. Not really thinking about it, we stopped into The Body Shop. We went in simply because neither of us had been in one before. On the back wall, as we were about to head out, we saw a skin care section. Why not take a look?

We found all sorts of options. We don’t consider ourselves an expert by any means when it comes to skin care, but we know a few bits. Like: tea tree oil is fantastic for breakouts. So, when we saw a whole line of stuff containing tea tree oil we looked into it.

Here is the thing: luckily we have similar skin. When we break out…its bad. Doesn’t happen often but boy is it hard to get rid of when it does happen. We both have combination skin, but Korina’s tends to be a little more on the oily side in comparison. So, finding something that works for both of us would be amazing.

This stuff, the minute it hits your face, feels like its working. For the price of just a cleanser in most brands, we got a cleanser, toner, oil, and moisturizer. We both, at the time, had bad breakouts. Within days they were gone! We had done a lot of looking that day, and we try a lot of samples. This is by far the best thing we have tried. Simple, so you can easily keep up with it. Dillon uses the moisturizer and Korina uses Aveeno.

These bottles seem small, especially the tea tree oil itself. But, we have had it for over two months and a little less than ¼ has been used. And we both use it! So crazy! We spent $25 for the travel sizes so we could try it out. And we will be able to get another 4 months of use out of it at least. The full size bottles are all under $15 each. Not to mention the nice additive of it being natural. If you have sensitive skin, it works great for you too. The slight tingle feels great and fresh every time we use it.

We aren’t saying this is the perfect product for everyone. But for us, it’s the best we have found! Our Holy Grail item. And for only $25 we couldn’t as for anything better! Sharing, while sometimes gets a little annoying, is a nice money saver when you can swing it.

Bottom line: Try out The Body Shops Tea Tree Oil skin care line if your in the market for something new. If not, then try sharing your skin care line with your significant other to save money!

Hope we gave a little bit of fun advice!

Guys guide to lip care.

It's a subtle thing that line between your nose and chin. Our lips do so much for our appearance, so why shouldn't we take better care of them? To help prevent lip burn and chapped lips here are some of the products I use:

Lips starting to feel cracked or rough? Take a dab of any of Lush’s lip sugar scrubs and apply it directly from your finger tip to your lips, rub your lips together grinding the sugar into your lips. The sugar scrub has the same affect as a sander to the top of a rough surface. The scrub leaves your lips feeling soft and clean. Lush’s scrubs come in several unique flavors: popcorn, mint julep, and even bubble gum.  You can find Lush’s scrubs online.

Before I go to bed and when I wake up I toss a little bit of the mint rose lip balm on. You can pick up a canister at bath and body works or Sephora. The mint and rose extracts help condition your lips and allows them to stay softer longer. Smith’s also helps with irritation and burns from the sun!  You can find Smiths at Sephora.

During the day I keep a tube of Burt's bees replenishing lip balm with me, mainly to make sure I don't get lip burn when I'm out, but also to keep my lips hydrated.  You can find Burt’s bees at walmart and target.

Thanks guys, hope this helped!

Stay fresh. Stay awesome.

A Puppy Post: Kong Review

Woof!
What would a couple’s blog be without their fur babies?  So here we are to tell you about some things we love that your furry children may love just as much! First is our newest toy, The Kong!

They are these red funny shaped rubbery toys that are really fun to chew on. When mom and dad go out for a long time and have to leave us home, they give us these toys with a special treat inside! It makes them leaving much better, we almost forget they’re gone! We are so busy playing and enjoying our treats, that we don’t have time to bark and cry, we are really quiet when we have our Kongs.

Inside the Kong, there is a hole for treats. Sometimes there is frozen peanut butter in there, or a Dentistick, or both! We aren’t too picky. The treats are kind of hard to get out so we have to work pretty hard chewing on our toy to get the treats out. It keeps us so busy that by the time we get the entire treat out, mom and dad are home again!

They can get a little messy depending on what treat gets put inside, but don’t worry, we will gladly clean it up! And, the toy is so rubbery, that no matter how hard we chew on it, it doesn’t break apart. So we can tell they are going to last a long time. So mom and dad said, “they are well worth the money”.

So, since we enjoy them so much, maybe your doggie friends will like them too! Us dogs don’t always like to be left home alone, we get bored, and so this toy helps out a lot! It is for sure Lupin and Princess approved!
